The checklist for your make-up training – so you pick the right school in Berlin (or for you).
You've been googling terms like “make-up training”, “become a make-up artist” or “make-up school Berlin”, but now you're more confused than before and want to know how to really tell the quality of a make-up artist training? That’s exactly what this page is for – and to show you how we’ve been doing it at Inclover Hair & Make-up Academy since 2012.
How to spot a good make-up school – and what makes us different
Our founder Sam Hill was in exactly the place many people are today after her own training: certificate in hand – but no presentable photos, no references and no one to help with the first steps.
That’s why at Inclover Academy everything is geared towards getting you into the actual industry: small groups, pro photo shoots in Berlin, jobs via the Inclover Agency and real follow-up support.
What to look for when comparing schools
Ask this – and compare it directly with what you get at INCLOVER Academy:
How big are the groups?
More than 8 people = very little individual correction.
With us:
Max. 6 participants per class – small groups mean intensive training, individual guidance, more looks, faster progress.
Are there professional shoots with experienced photographers?
Photos from inexperienced photographers often aren’t enough to convince clients or employers.
With us:
Shoots with internationally renowned photographers, agency models & styling by well-known designers. That’s how you get images that actually help you win paid work.
Do I get real on-set experience and references?
Many schools stop supporting you after the certificate – then you’re on your own.
With us:
Via the Inclover Agency you keep getting requests for shows, events and e.g. Berlin Fashion Week for years.
Will I be shown how to build a career?
Skills alone aren’t enough. You need a plan to get clients or a permanent position.
With us:
Inclover Business/Founders Academy → step by step into a permanent role or into building a client base as a freelancer.
How long has the school been around?
Being longer on the market means more stability and networks.
With us:
In Berlin since 2012 · certified education provider · 600+ graduates placed in jobs & bookings.
Questions that make comparisons easy 👇
- How many participants are there in one class at most?
- Which team produces the final photos? Who are the photographers, models and stylists?
- Can I join events or shows during or right after the training?
- How exactly do you support me after the training? Do you show me how to build a client base? Do you help with permanent jobs?
- Since when have you been in business, are you a certified education provider?
- Do you have examples of graduates who are actually working now?
Ask every school these questions. If the answers are vague, you’ll likely have to figure everything out on your own after graduating.
Why Berlin is an advantage for your start
Berlin is a fashion, events and media hub. This is where the jobs are that you need references for: Berlin Fashion Week, film & TV, brand shoots, award shows. Because we are based here, we can take you along – that’s the difference. We also work across Germany and sometimes look specifically for graduates from other cities for these jobs.
